What people are saying

“I feel so accompanied after this.

It was so relieving sharing experiences and feelings with such wonderful people, parents near and far. It feels so good knowing you are not alone and there are people that feel the same as you.

I know I am doing ok because I am building a relationship with respect. Positive Discipline is such a great way to see there are different ways to do it.”

- Guadalupe, Montessori Guide & mom of a 4 year old

“I feel empowered.

Our discipline approach had us in a loop, always doing the same things, using the same methods which we didn’t like and most of the time didn’t work.

I feel like now I have the knowledge and the tools to have my children be active members of the family, not just following orders.

I believe we can all learn so much from looking past the misbehaviors, the tantrums. This workshop will help you understand what our children are feeling and going through, that there is a better way to connect and be present for our children.”

- Pamela, mother of two

“I feel that other parents would enjoy learning in this space and in this multidimensional work.

I feel like I have come away from this workshop with a renewed sense of calm and perspective, am more in touch with the parent I have always been and am growing into.

I have a better understanding of where my daughter is developmentally, validating stress, how I can best support her to express herself fully, and how to lovingly and firmly set boundaries.

Charlotte's calm, compassionate, creative support, the validation and willingness to meet us in some pretty tricky places is priceless.”

- Jayne, mom of a 3.5 year old

“Charlotte's workshop provided us tools that we could implement immediately.

I gained new ways to help my daughter become the caring, confident, and creative adult I want her to be as well as new ways to be the parent I want to be.

I think often times we think of parenting as only offering consequences: punishment or reinforcement but Charlotte's workshop reminded me that intentional parenting is also about building the structure to set our kids up for success and set ourselves up to have practices in our family that will encourage not only positive behavior but a positive parent-child relationship.”

- Meredith, mother of two

Here’s what you’re getting with Empowering Preschoolers

  • 6 weeks of live, interactive classes with me, a Certified Montessori & Positive Discipline Educator. Spaces are limited to encourage an open, honest environment and a personalized experience. There will be a variety of information sharing, experiential activities, and adults-helping-adults problem solving sessions.

  • 1 individual session with me for coaching, guidance, and support where you need it most. A partner or co-parent is welcome to join the session.

  • Access to a community platform for ongoing support & resources. This one is huge! You can ask questions and get help with specifics as things come up throughout each week. This also gives you the opportunity to stay connected long after the course ends.

  • Weekly handouts, scripts, & journals to refer back to, reflect on, and share with a partner or co-parent. These resources are optional and here to support you, NOT add to the overwhelm!

Weekly Topics

In our weekly sessions, I will present a topic, teach tools, facilitate an activity and discussion. Each week we will have dedicated “adults-helping-adults” time where one person can bring particular challenges to the group for support.

Meet Your Facilitator

Hi, I’m Charlotte.

I help parents, caregivers, and educators feel equipped and empowered with Positive Discipline tools so they can support children’s sense of belonging and significance, while also helping them develop positive social and life skills.

I’m a 3-6 Certified Montessori Educator and Certified Positive Discipline Parent & Early Childhood Educator. I’ve been using Positive Discipline, an approach based in mutual respect and encouragement, in my classrooms and with families for years and have seen its powerful impact on children and those who care for them.

With implementing Positive Discipline, adults express feeling more confident and connected with the children in their care, a deeper understanding of children’s behavior (and their own), and a love for the practical applications of the tools and strategies at home and in the classroom.

FAQs

+ What are the topics covered in this program?

Topics covered include balancing kindness & firmness, using curiosity questions, understanding the brain, mistaken goals of behavior, recovering from mistakes, validating feelings, special time, routine charts, family meetings, examining discipline practices, and so much more!

There is a weekly structure for the program, as well as a little flexibility according to the needs and interest of the group — freedom within limits applies here, too!

+ What are experiential activities?

I’m so glad you asked! This is essentially learning by doing. Experiential learning activities in this program include role play, guided imagery, partner/small group activities, and scripted skits.

Experiential activities help us understand the underlying feelings and motivations for children's behavior. It ends up being pretty fun and a valuable method of learning. Tools and skills practiced this way tend to have a bigger impact in how you use them and remembering to use them.

+ What if I can’t attend live?

The basis of this program is live, interactive sessions and the powerful impact of experiential activities and group processing. Plan to come live and get the most value from the program. Of course, things do happen! All sessions will be recorded so it’s ok if you do need to miss one.

+ Is the community in a Facebook group?

No, we have a private community platform that’s super easy to use. There is both a desktop version and an app. This is where we can share resources, files, videos, ask questions and support each other throughout the program, outside of our weekly Zoom sessions.

+ Is this a Montessori course, too?

This a Positive Discipline program and that will be our main focus. That said, Montessori and Positive Discipline go together so seamlessly for me, and there will be opportunities to discuss these many intersections as they come up. See 'work with me' tab for Montessori-focused services.

+ Is this a certification training?

No, this isn’t a Positive Discipline certification training. I’m a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, and this is an enrichment course. You can find information on certification trainings through the Positive Discipline website.

+ Is this just for parents?

Nope! Parents, step-parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, anyone with young people in their life is welcome to join. The Positive Discipline approach can be used and applied in all relationships in our lives, and anyone can join the group and benefit.

“I think we all feel empowered after taking the workshop.

We don't feel alone as parents. In other words, it's not just my husband and I getting our kid to do things.

It's actually all three of us working together to get things done.”

- Lindsey, mom of a 3 year old
